Seeing your inspector show up all grown up makes me feel old. Cant believe how long I have been subbed to your channel.

IMHO you have the best DIY channel on YouTube. You do a great job of anticipating problems and offering good solutions. So many other channels waste time on the obvious and skip over the problem areas. Thank you for your great videos.

You did a good job of explaining the absolute basics of adding a receptacle. There are details that a weekend warrior wouldn’t know about a safe installation. Paying a qualified electrician is much cheaper than dealing with an electrical fire.

Always appreciate a clean & neat looking display. All those wires make everything look ugly.

I like to use the outlets that have built in surge protection. That won’t matter if you have whole house protection though. Great video

I like that recessed socket box. It is ideal for the job you did, which may I add. You did a phenomenal job, well done, Sir.

I know that around the world the colors of the wires differ, here in the UK, the colors are, yellow, blue or green, and brown, which is ground.
And in plugs Europe has just Two wires, whereas in the U.K. it is Three wires in a plug.

Anyway, I just thought of adding this in for those who are less knowledgeable with electrical work, be sure to know your wires prior to doing a job, and if you feel uncomfortable then please do not attempt to do anything electrical and call a certified electrician, or as they say in Scotland a sparky. 😂

The gentleman that you watched doing this himself knows what he is doing, and he has a lot of experience and knowledge. I have been subscribed to this channel for a long time, and I know this.

Out of appreciation to you for taking the time to produce this content, the video has now been given the 1098th like 🤙🏼to say thankyou very much.

Have a great Week and take care, Sir. 🤙🏼🙂🤙🏼❤️

Just an observation not the code police. But the outlet you tapped into had yellow sheath which is 12 AWG and 20A. The wire you used to extent to the new outlet was white 14 AWG and 15A. Curious what size breaker is in the panel for this outlet 15A or 20A. 15A is ok but if its 20A that would be a no-no.

I just had to do this a few days ago however I had to go through a couple studs. I may have to switch out the outlet with one of those recessed ones! wonderful job and great video as always!

EXCELLENT & great camera work & procedural detail.

Love these videos. Small code violations of no clamp on the new wire in the bottom box (you cut it out) and wire not secured to stud, but keep up the good work!

Looks great Chris! Another fine video.
When I did my Plasma (still have) several years ago, I used Monoprice for a few things. 90* left or right HDMI plug ins since the outputs woulda came straight out the back. Also used them for getting a shorter tv cord. This really helped clean things up for my install.

I’ve been hanging tvs since before they were flat panels. You did a nice job here. I chuckled when I saw the slack wire in that outlet. My guess is, the basement was finished after the home was built and an electrician didn’t do that so keep an eye on those circuits. I just upgraded my main TV and surround sound. The Nvidia Shield Pro is light years better than the Roku boxes I have been streaming with.

Always great content Chris!! So glad you discussed stud mounting, I’ve seen way too many TVs “temporarily” mounted on drywall lol.

In my region code is no more than a 1/4” of sheathing in the electrical box, so I always trim before putting the wire in the box.

Also loved that you used the scissor style mounts, hare the ones that clip on without being able to move or access the back.

That outlet looks like th old recessed clock wall outlets common in old 1950’s kitchens (including mine).

Thanks for the video. I have a tv mounted above fireplace. The outlet is not near by so I run some cords but definitely like the idea of a recessed outlet.

Did the same using a box that included the electric outlet, a coax and a LAN receptacle. Makes for a clean installation.
