Religion and religious belief only gives true answers given that what is believed in is true. An honest scientist looks at the world and comes up with descriptions, rules, and models, and says "these could be true but I fundamentally cannot know whether any of them are". If the scientist is religious she will already have decided what reality is like. Whether or not this constitutes a conflict I think depends on interpretation; both of your understanding of the word "conflict" and especially on how the religious convictions of the scientist influence the way she interprets and presents her results to the world.

In principle God is the greatest scientist in the universe. So how could science be against religion? It may appear to be so if we doubt there is a God. Otherwise everything floats in weightlessness.
