Live from the World Chess Hall of Fame, the 8th Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz is the third of five legs of the Grand Chess Tour. Five of the Tour players are joined by five wildcards (roster below) for a rapid round robin and a blitz double round robin. Today are the first three rounds of the rapid round robin. There have been many who have wondered why Hans Niemann was not invited to this tournament, but this is a rapid and blitz tournament, and Niemann's rapid fide rating is 2607, and blitz rating is 2633. The lowest ratings of the entrants here are Pragg's 2688 rapid rating, and Dominguez Perez at 2651 in blitz rating, so both are higher rated in their worst events than Hans, who needs to show more in faster time controls to partake without offering offense to one of the higher rated players. Once Hans establishes himself in these time controls, perhaps he will receive the invite, if St. Louis Chess can find it in them to forget past offenses.
