NEW 550XP Mark II VS 550XP (original) Side By Side Compare

The Husqvarna 550XP was a popular saw because of it's power, weight, and maneuverability. But it had a few issues that became more prominent the longer they were used in the field. So Husqvarna went back to the drawing board and basically redesigned the 550XP and the 545 and gave the new versions a "Mark II" designation. If you're familiar with the original 545 and 550XP then it will be easy to tell the difference between the new version and old version of each model. The new Mark II 550XP is slightly wider (especially at the top) due to the redesigned cylinder and cooling fins. The Mark II models also have a different air filter, intake boot, muffler, and different cylinder port timing than the old versions. All of these features, along with a few other new tweaks, make the Mark II saws start easier, run cooler, produce more power & torque, and increases the life span of the saw. The differences aren't just visual between the 2 versions. If you get a chance to run a Mark II you will notice the easiness to start and the better revving of the engine along with an improved torque curve.

LOVE the Autotune saws!! The 572XP is an absolute BEAST! And the 550XP and 545 are tough to beat if you're looking for a light weight saw with plenty of power.

I've got an original one that's on its 2nd rebuild in 8 years. I wouldnt mind having a new one, but cant shell out $600+. My first rebuild oem parts were used, but this last time the cylinder was ok, but the piston had a big blister burnt around the land and seemed to of messed up the ring. It had only 85psi of compression. This piston I bought this time is a meteor with a caber ring.Hopefully itll hold up a few seasons till I can afford a new saw
