Wow. Hold on, give me a second... I need to relax after this one.

This was crazy difficult. Not only was it just difficult note-wise, but the rhythms were ridiculous too. It was loads of fun though!

I started working on this in June. I did take July and August off while I was away for the summer, but all in all this is the product of a little less than 4 months of work.
There are 8 voices that you don't see, but that's just because I couldn't fit them on screen. 4 baritone voices and 4 tenor voices do not have videos to go along with them, but there aren't any splits in those parts so I don't think that matters that much. There are 7 voice parts in all, plus the Soprano solo.

I'll admit, I did cheat a little bit with the bass 2 part... I wasn't planning on doing this song because of how low the bass part was. But one day (and singers will know what I mean) I woke up and for some reason I just wasn't getting the high notes I usually do... but my range compensated by giving me ridiculous low notes... so I learned the bass part and took everything from there... believe me, I don't normally have the low C's and D's that I sing in the video.

The solo at the end is the top left box, the one wearing a bowtie. My soloists wear bowties now, bowties are cool.

It would be awesome if you all would tweet this video to @ImogenHeap

Are people really calling the original version lazy? Imogen didn't just sing into a mic and it sound like that. She used a vocoder (connected to a midi keyboard controller) and played each note that she wanted in the harmonies while singing. She dictated which notes would be played and her voice was the input so she had to continually sing or the entire thing would stop making sound. Her version took a lot of practice (probably as much as this version). Both of these are incredible but created in totally different ways.

This is a great example of how youtube used to be before it was a big business for content producers. People with great but also funny or weird ideas who create unique content with their passion and dedication.
Obviously times change. But I felt a bit nostalgic to how youtube used to be hearing this.

Too many comments to dig through, but one question... Did Imogen pop in with a comment at any point? Wouldn't that just be the best feeling?
It's almost perfect. I think the original changes pace a bit at times, picks up here and there. Pitch is dead on though, you have an impressive range.

That's either one hell of a range, or some good pitch editing.

Wow holy shit, you have such a great ear to be able to imitate a vocoder. BIG UP.

This is amazing! It looks simple, but I can appreciate all the work that has gone into this. It's beautiful to listen to with headphones. Thankyou for this <3.

I was attempting to do a cover of this song but completely forgot how the parts went so I went on YouTube to give it a listen and I found this.

Needless to say, I just lost all motivation and confidence to do one. This is AMAZING and I am binge-watching your channel as soon as I post this comment!
