As the grandchild of a Calabrian, I long for a big, meaty documentary on Calabria, full of rich details about its history and culture.

When these channels discover 'hidden gems' usually they are not so hidden. Tropea (5k habitants) is the most visited town in Calabria with half million tourists in 2023. If you want to see real hidden gems there are plenty of other villages like Diamante, Amantea, Le castella... and all the other hundreds of mediaval towns shuttered across the regoin, these are hidden gems

I went there some years ago. It's beautiful! The sea is clear, almost transparent. Furthermore it isn't a very expensive touristic place.

The guide lady seems so unassuming and genuine. I would definitely avail her services when I visit Tropea.

I went on a trip to Italy with my family almost two decades ago now. It was a great trip but we only stayed in Central and Northern Italy (Rome, Florence/Lucca, and Venice). I definitely would like to go back to Italy sometime and visit the southern part of the country including Calabria.

Been to Calabria many years ago. I rented an apartment in Parghelia which is next to Tropea. The view was spectacular - the Stromboli from sunrise to sunset! Amazing beaches.

Capo Vaticano is beautiful place near Tropea, more quiet and relaxing

I was there last year... amazing place... hopefully it will not get to crowded... it is a small place. I cannot hold too many tourists.

My family is from a small town in Calabria. The people there are very kind. My aunt actually went back there. She was so annoying and such a bum the whole village pitched in to buy her a one way ticket back to America. 😂
