A remote island in the Aegean teaches social change, inclusion and long term planning. What made 25 years old women go back in her island and become the youngest Mayor of Greece? Kakali Maria is the Mayor of Agios Efstratios. Born (24/01/1987) and raised on the island of Agios Efstratios, she graduated (2004) with honors from the local high school and was admitted to the University of Patras, Department of Education Sciences and Early Childhood Education. Committed to her personal goal, she finished her studies in 4 years and returned to her hometown to work at the island's nursery school. Unfortunately, she didn’t manage to get appointed, so she worked at a Ticket Office and got involved in the island's public welfare.
