Btw at the beginning android was designed for cameras

Even at the time of release it wasn't very popular, because hardly anyone edited their photos on a phone.

They should have made the screen detachable so that an upgraded version could be fitted as Android developed

Android began in 2003 as a project of the American technology company Android Inc., to develop an operating system for digital cameras. In 2004 the project changed to become an operating system for smartphones.

They should try it again in the modern world! I think it’d work very well judging the fact that everyone uses their phone and this would give KILLER RESULTS

We need a camera only version of Android that has long term support like any other dslr mirrorless software and lightweight so it isn't buggy and sluggish. Some form of light editing softwares will debut too eventually. Someone should have picked this idea up. Given android was made for Camera software, it would make a ton of senes

They probably didn’t ask professional photographers and prosumers because any one of those would tell you that physical buttons are absolutely necessary for rapidly adjusting ISO, shutter speed, aperture size or exposure compensation.

I'm actually surprised Samsung cameras didn't take off in the industry, since they make really good cameras for their phones.

All Sony cameras uses android as the operating system, that’s why it’s so hard to change a setting sometimes

This is proof that software is so degrading. My old canon 20d can still be powered up and enjoyable to use. This i bet feels awful and sluggish, like a dated car infotainment

Still have mine, wish I could change the degrading grip and updated android

I think it was ahead of its times. Nowadays even cheap phones have good processing power and oled screens. Having a proper camera with the spec of a 300€ phone could be very compelling

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Cam and I was very sad, when Samsung discontinued the Galaxy-Cams and I had to change to normal mobile phones

Imagine a sim enabled android camera. That would be great lmao. Everything would go straight to my Google drive, and, after shooting til the thing dies, I could grab my raws onto my phone. Kinda a shame that Samsung doesn't do cameras like this anymore

I can imagine, that we will see a more modern version of this concept from DJI

I reviewed the sister camera (Galaxy Camera) when it first came out, and didn’t think it was a great idea then. No one back then wanted to edit photos on a small screen. The UI was very slow, as it was like using the cheapest Android phone available at the time, but with a powerful camera attached.

No buttons also meant that you spent a lot of time looking down at the screen, rather than intuitively navigating and spending time taking photos.

My review had people from Samsung’s PR company questioning my review.
