Ellos, just wanted to point out that there is a lateral tract which conveys pain and temperature and an anterior tract that conveys crude touch, which do not then synapse onto the secondary sensory cortex. Thank you for the nice summary! :)

Projection to the thalamus:

Neurons ascending via the spinothalamic tract synapse with 3rd order neurons in the following nuclei of the thalamus: Medial Dorsal (MD) (to the cingulate cortex), Ventral Posterior Lateral (VPL) (to the primary somatosensory cortex in the postcentral gyrus), and Ventral Posterior Medial (VPM) (to the insula).

I feel like some important parts were left out. If the first order sensory neuron synapses on the second order sensory neuron in the nucleus proprius, it will ascend contralaterlly via the anterior spinothalamic tract. If the first order sensory neuron synapses on the second order sensory neuron in the substantia gelatinosa, it will ascend contralaterally via the lateral spinothalamic tract.
