I'm selling my kidneys to buy a Switch 2

Nintendo recently announced in their Nintendo Direct specs and details about the new Nintendo Switch 2. Not only is the console pretty expensive, but the games are now setting the standard of starting at $80. The new Mario Kart World will be $90 for a physical version, and older games will be subject to a $10-20 fee to "upgrade" in order to work on the new console. On the bright side this doesn't include any additional price increase due the new tariffs so.... it's probably going to be even more.

I think I accidently said the cartridges are different for the switch 2 in this video - thats not true, the cartridges are the same. Some cartridges will be a "download only key" which I referred to in the video and that's *new* for the switch 2 but it's still using the same hardware.

I bought a used wii for $60, modded it, and downloaded like 30 gamecube games. the next day nintendo announces for $50 a year you can play 3 gamecube games. I think i made the right decision

Hint: If you actually buy an Nintendo Switch 2, DO NOT UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE. It will be cracked in less than a year after launch and it's gonna be fixed really quickly after that, maybe even before the crack is out to the public, since they keep an eye on everyone for these kinds of things.

The classic Nintendo rollercoaster: Console does great - ego inflated - shit out a new console with minor improvements that does terrible - new console becomes financial disaster - they get humbled and fix everything by the time the new new console arrives.

They've been banking on the fact that the Switch shouldn't have competition, but with the Steam Deck already out in the market with a thousand more features and a built in store that actually cares for its consumers all for similar price and definitely way cheaper games, they're setting themselves up for a rude awakening, wouldn't be surprised if we see some games being backported to the Switch 1 in 3 years like the WiiU games on 3DS.

I’m planning on buying a Switch 2 day 1 for a few reasons:

1. I have a backlog of games on my switch that I’ve been buying on sale and held up cause they are a bit chuggy on the Switch so hopefully the better performance of the switch 2 makes it a more enjoyable experience.

2. If Nintendo is really going down this route of $80-$90 dollar exclusives… the first few switches were easier to crack, hope that rule applies to the switch 2 too

I'm just getting so sick of this, like they're not even hiding the middles fingers anymore, they're doing it and going "Yeah? What you gonna do about it?" Just to make a small correction, only some of the physical carts will be those key carts, mainly replacing the code in box versions that they have been doing for a while. it's still really fucked up and I won't be buying the switch 2 for all the other reasons, AND if they "fix" those reasons and I do buy a switch 2, I WILL NEVER buy the stupid fucking key carts.

Video games keep getting more expensive to make, and yet the artificially constrained pricing scheme of the video game market keeps locking the prices to points that don't support that level of work. But also, games sell in such mass quantities that they can AFFORD to keep upping the ante and making bigger and more expensive games. It makes sense for the prices of blockbuster games to go up, but what we really need is more price DIFFERENTIATION. Games that are not all that expensive to make ought to be selling for less. THAT'S the pricing corruption in our market - overcharging for less impressive products.

Saw a video by BeatEmUps where he asked someone from CDprokektRed to tell us what the framerate targets for cyberpunk on the switch 2 were.

30 fps with "quality" mode.
40 fps with "performance" mode.

And that's at handheld 1080p.

So much for anyone that thought the years of stuttering nintendo switch games were behind them

yeah, im good on nintendo. ive been into indie games lately, so its nice to only pay $5-25 for a game.
