Chilean here. There is a city named after him in Chile (in the Araucania region) and also many streets and statues across the country honor his name as well. Chileans that are of mestizo descent (most of the people) are usually proud of this Mapuche heritage because they were able to endure the Spanish colonization efforts the most.

my brother in Christ, how do I tell you this, the Chilean Republic didn't exist up until 1810, Lautaro didn't liberate Chile nor was he Chilean, he was a Mapuche that liberated his nation (the Mapuche) from Spanish invasion almost 3 centuries prior to Chile's independence. Chile came to be from the mixing of the multiple native tribes all across the territory (the Mapuche being just one of them) and the "Spanish", which was mostly Basques and Andalucians during the whole Colonial period of Chile, this national identity was only finally proclamed some years prior to the official declaration or Independence, the Mapuche in the Araucania and Bio-Bio Regions stayed voluntarily allienated from this social construct for decades up until the "Chileans" finished the conquering their Spanish ex-rulers couldn't back in the colonial period. By the way, during the Independence War a good portion of the Mapuche nation literally sided and fought alongside with the Spanish Crown against the Chileans.

All in all I still value your effort and interest on the history of this character

How can you cleanly say the Spanish version of Lef-Traru "Lautaro", but then butcher Pedro's name? 😂

Yes, and Lautaro carried out the genocide of the other nationalities that lived on the territory of Chile, no better than Spain
