A big thanks to all the viewers who have commented on our sacroiliac joint dysfunction and SI joint pain videos. It is because of people engaging and commenting that this video is possible. Here are the SI joint pain videos and SI joint exercise videos where we obtained viewer questions:

There are a lot of questions around the sacroiliac joint (aka SI joint) that can keep people from getting the care that they need. I frequently see patients in my chiropractic practice who have struggled for years with pain in various areas like their low back, sacrum and tailbone region, and hips - with the common underlying cause being SI joint dysfunction.

SI joint dysfunction can present as SI joint instability or SI joint fixation. Many times chiropractors tend to see every problem as a joint fixation and therefore perform chiropractic adjustments, like a side-posture manual chiropractic treatment, to help the problem. But when the pain is being caused by instability in the SI joint then creating stability around that sacroiliac joint is key.

In this video we talk about activities that can increase SI joint pain. We also go into things that many times can bring SI joint pain relief, including SI belts, SI joint pain exercises, and avoiding activities that create stress around the sacroiliac joint itself.

We also go over a simple test that we use in my chiropractic office called the SI belt test that allows us to better determine if the patients pain is coming more from their lumbar spine (low back) or their SI joints.

Since my MRI showed severe athropathy in the sacroilliac joints (bilateral) 3 years ago, I have learnt so much!! Your practical advice has been incredibly helpful. SIJ is just like "Goldilocks", can't sit for too long, can't stand for too long, can't sleep for too long. If you do sit, the seat can't be too hard or too soft. Can't lean to the side, have to stay straight. Everything has to be "just right" lol!!! Wish you were in Brisbane Australia!!

I had a laminectomy nearly 2 years ago and since then had had SI Joint pain. After your Videos I had worked out it is my mattress that keeps shearing it. I now have $200 ikea firm mattress on top of my $3000 mattress and I am positive I am cured. Unbelievable!

I sit a lot for work and I play a lot of golf. However those 2 worlds collided in the worst way about 2 months ago when I was swinging a club. The pain was so severe it brought me to my knees. For the next several weeks I kept re-injuring myself and was getting very frustrating. About 8 weeks later was I feeling well enough to start doing yoga again, so I went about 50% and it went OK. A week later, I went 100% with yoga and the next morning when I sat down in my chair POW! The pain was back and I was so frustrated and even a bit scared. No one could tell me what was going on or what to do. I'm an engineer so I analyze and research everything and based on your videos and information, I bought a Serola belt (Medium of course) and I've only been wearing it a week and I can tell a big difference. For the last 2 months, if I wasn't in pain, I felt like my SI joint could give out at any moment. I wear the belt 24/7 (except when I shower) and I'm without pain and sleeping so much better. I would wake up with pain and stiffness in my SI joint, but not since I've been wearing the belt to bed. Meanwhile, I'm working on my glutes, glute meds, and TAs. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us, Dr. Pedersen!

I wish I could give this video atleast a thousand likes. I m 8 mnths postpartum and started having what I initially thought was lower back pain and sciatica since 2 mnths ago. Now when I pinpoint, it actually looks like my SI joint. I don't have problem bending but extreme pain while sitting and standing from lying down postion. Also looks like one of my legs has functional height difference and feet pronation. Severe pain from SI joint to the ankle. Painkillers don't help much. This video helped me understand the pattern of my pain so much. I hope the SI belt helps. Had no pain or problems during pregnancy but postpartum has been a struggle especially since I have another little human to care for more than my own self.

I started using the Serola belt a few days ago and it's life changing. I really hope it actually helps the joint to heal. I don't have a diagnosis but I've had pain there for 3 years. I can do my shopping, and go on 10 mile walks now without pain during and after.😄🥂

I can’t tell you how excited I was when I found your videos !! You explain everything so simply and clearly! Thank you ! I had no idea what I was suffering from but did show the physios I’d been to where the pain was coming from but non of them mention the SI joint !
In one video you mentioned that yoga and foreword lunges were bad for us ! I unfortunately have been doing them without realising and feel a pain/ heaviness going down the front of my thighs especially the side where my SI joint hurts from a fall Will this go away with the belt too ?
Once again thank you sooo much for giving us all some hope of a good recovery 😊

Thank you Brant. Love your highly informative, accessible and compassionate approach. Just as so many others have commented - you give me hope and for that I am so grateful. I am hopeful that I can recover again from this latest episode of chronic pain. Last time around (2006-2012) none of the orthopaedic Docs I saw gave me any hope, they all had different opinions and I didn't understand my spine/condition so found it hard to choose the correct treatment. I discovered that I have a congenital scoliosis which of course puts undue loads on different parts of my spine/pelvic area. Back then I had disc bulges and prolapses and horrible sciatica all the way down to my foot. I eventually recovered after a couple of injections. I continued with low level pain in what I now think is my R SI joint but this was never mentioned at the time. This has recently flared up badly. Straight on with the belt! And I plan to introduce the 4 stabilising exercises as soon as I can tolerate them 🤞🤞thank you xx

OMG this video is so informative and explained EXACTLY what's going on with my hips and lower back. I was beginning to despair that I'd never get over the pain and instability. Thank you so much. Having a better understanding I can now discuss with my practioner. Fortunately after only 2 appointments she had diagnosed this but I hadn't fully understood what was happening in and around my pelvis. Now I do.

Thanks for the videos. You are so right. People need to be persistent to find the right person to help them with their SI pain. The fourth person has helped me to find the longest lasting relief. However, I think the education here will take it a step further and get me back doing exercises, including yours, again! Thank you.

Thanks for the great video and the other informative videos! I have SI joint pain since 2017 after I landed roughly on my right leg during a basketball game. I’m doing now strengthening exercises that you recommended and wear the SI joint belt during work (lots of sitting). That helps a lot and I hope to be completed cured soon 🙏

Hi, thank you for all the videos and brilliant advice. I have been trying to understand what has happened to my back as the pain didn't seem to fit a slipped disc. Since I bought the belt and did the exercises recommended it has changed from a 8 in pain to about a 4. Still waiting for MRI from the NHS so working on it myself! Thanks again.
