Creation of paper currency, banking system, bond market and stock market etc. are some of the greatest invention of mankind.
Can't imagine commerce without it.
Thanks Europe for this.
Although Europe used this to expand there colonies and plunder other countries including mine.
But still, its a human nature. And this financial system eventually benefited every country in the long term.

Interesting, but I am still ignorant. What are government securities? You said they would look for the broker in some coffee house, what was the broker? Where would the money go? How much would the broker make? I do undestand that the ships were distributing risk... what are the other companies? How would the debts movement work?

Bank of England was publicly traded on the Dutch and British stock exchanges in the late 1600s. One of the only publicly traded companies in the 1600s that’s still about today (although now privately owned). East India company is a company today but the name was just re-cycled it’s not the same.
