I was concerned as runtime performance is not mentioned once in the Tutorial.
Then I downloaded the pre-built binaries for Windows myself and ran it. This portal demo runs on my Nvidia 2070 in UHD at 80-90fps. Not bad!

I could never get the tangent velocities to work with how this is set up. Instead I changed the cross product to both be world. Then instead of set velocity I used add velocity. It looks about the same.

another more intuitive way to do the lifetime branching is random number remap by HDR ramp * min lifetime
i'm totally making this up but it should work
