I've dealt with many leaks in my career. ANd I have never dealt with a leak that is due to "racking".. And we see roofs like that every now and then....but not with leaks. I think your whining is a bit misplaced. Having said that....most (nearly all) roofs are not done with that method.

Lots of American houses have roof tiles, that we would put on our sheds or summer houses in the UK.

Found many wrongs on installation after doing maintenance on my roof. Amazing what you find. Wrong nail pattern, no nail where a nail is required. Screwing up drip edge etcc...some can be corrected, ither areas had to be stripped and installed properly.

I used to roof houses with my dad. I did a section like that, instead of the way he showed me when I was starting. He made me redo all of it and cut the price of the shingles out of my pay.

Oh yah that's bad. Same with lap siding, no seems close to other seems or skip a board then another seems. Just looked at a house with a bunch of siding installed like this.

Have you ever talked about CertainTeed organic shingles. Our roof is covered by them. Worst shingle ever, and the recompense is almost nothing.

We call it shotgunning instead of racked. It's still bad workmanship.
