There was a previous plot arc- late 80's, I think? - in which Daredevil briefly regained his sight.  It effectively stopped him from functioning as a hero, while it lasted.  Turns out that not being able to *see* the danger he subjects himself to, be it combat or vaulting between rooftops, was a large part of his fearlessness all those years.

Something about liquid metal that solidifies on command is amazing to me. Not to many stories use this idea: Superior Iron Man, Terminator 2, Jimmy Hudson, that's all I can think of.

This isn't the first time Daredevil got his sight restored. The Beyonder restored his sight in Secret Wars 2 back in the 80's.

I thought it was interesting that the final glimpse we get of Foggy in that last panel as Matt is returning to his normal senses. We're catch sort of a glimpse of how Matt views Foggy without sightedness. Foggy changes from the pudgy, kind of goofy-looking, lovable cuddly dude that we all know so well, and that artists over the years have really worked consistently to portray him as. In the last panel, Foggy has this strong, chisled jaw line and fierce eyes; he's a figure of strength. I can't help but think that was deliberate, it shows us, without having to spell it out, just how strong and powerful Matt views Foggy Nelson, his friend, partner, and man at arm's. Incredible, subtle touch.
