Landlords push for evictions as tenants struggle to pay rent

A group of landlords are calling for an expedited eviction process, as more tenants ask for rent extensions. Katelyn Wilson reports.

There's no way automatic evictions won't be abused. But considering the increase in housing issues all across the province, for the sake of landlords and tenants, we need a properly funded staffed, and more robust and responsive LTB.

How can you expect to get housing and not pay rent? Whats the difference between a thief in a store?

Automatic eviction for non payment is a MUST. If you don't like the place, you can choose to move. If you don't like your landlord, you can sue. But why you choose to keep staying but stop paying? That means you like the place, you're ok with the landlord, but you just don't like to pay.

The landlord & tenant tribunal (LTB) system completely collapsed about a decade ago, years before Covid, and Covid made everything worse. This affects both landlords and tenants.

Landlords dont work. They Leech off the hard work of their tennants when the system already leeches off them.

Its a risky buisness you are in. Thats the risk you take. Deal with it. The renters go through far more than the landlords could imagine.

How can tenants be allowed to live in someone's home for free? How can it take longer than 60 days to evict someone who has chosen not to pay their rent? How is far ? The poor person who bought this property, worked hard and saved there money. It should be automatic "if you don't pay your rent you have to leave.

we renters believe that the federal and provincial government needs to step in to decrease the loophole where the landlords increase new available units to a sky rocket amount. Rent had to be decrease and this issue will be decreased
