Love my XTs… and my Curado’s, and my Exprides.. and my Calcutta’s.. and every other Shimano I own!.. had some over 20 yrs and still silky smooth

Man I picked up a SLX XT last year to try out... I was curious on how it would hold up long term but didn't want to wait a couple years to see so I filled the one I got up with 60lb braid and put it on a 7'6" XH/XF rod and hit the grass mats on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn. It's still working just like it was right out the box... I was shocked because I've broke every budget reel I've ever bought inside a single summer punching mats and I've tried them all over the years. My SLX has held up better then a lot of my reels in that $150ish price range. So if they upgraded the XT version for the same price it's a no brainer they're well worth the money. I just wish they made a SLX XT in the 200 and 300 series because I like keeping extra reels in the boat to have different size line on and in different gear ratios and it's hard to buy Curados and Curado M's as spears...

All are talking about spool capacity, gear ratio, ball bearings etc etc.... But i never hear anybody talking about centrifigual vs magnetic casting control on your reel and what type of system to use for what type of baits.

I know many people in the fishing industry saying that it doesnt mather but IT DOES!

Why are not more reels equipted with both centrifugaul and magnetic ?? They compliment eachother in a very smooth and soficticated way.

Great value. For me, I’d spent an extra $25 and get the SLX 70 with the MGL spool since I like smaller reels. But the updated SLX XT seems like it can’t be beat for a 150-size reel, at that price point.

Should I buy the 1st gen slx xt or wait? I've been wanting a bait caster for a while and I think I've settled on the xt just don't know how long it'll be. Are the upgrades very noticeable in your opinion?

Yeah, I agree it's lame that Shimano isn't bringing it's A game to the US. The SLX XT DC is bad ass.
