This song was inspired by frequent hallucinations John Maus used to have wherein his high school football coach would encourage him to go for the touchdown. This advice would up being pretty solid, as it led to John’s musical success.

The drum part is so gangster. Especially when it comes to the change ups, accompanied by the bass, this song would make a great hip hop break beat, but it gains this totally different aesthetic once you factor in the ‘glittery’ twinkling synth arpeggios! The video, with its filtering with solarizing effects, or whatever it is that gives it that fuzzy exposure, has its own visual aesthetic that really is perfectly matched to the music. Couldn’t have made a better more perfect video to accompany this song. The back drop beat though, could be a straight up hip hop anthem! John Maus - the most Un-SPAM thing from Austin Minnesota!
