I like the wide version of RRR, but there is no Larry Huffman's voice!

Funny... I've spent a lot of quarters back in the day but have never heard of any of these games before.

One thing I can't stand about nostalgia enthusiasts is their excitement to play older games on whatever device they just hacked, only to play an obvious 4:3 game in stretched 16:9 mode and they seem completely oblivious of how awful it looks. What is even worse is when companies don't see it, or don't care.

It seems to me that the SNES and GEN versions are true 4:3 but somehow the improved version is not. All the Vikings look short, fat and wide and objects that are clearly meant to be perfectly circular objects are squished and stretched. I bet they haven't taken into account the ratio of the pixels themselves: back in the day, the number of pixels were perhaps 4 to 3, but the pixels weren't square like they are today. That means the real aspect ratio, not pixel to pixel ratio, is closer to 5:4 but this option doesn't exists anywhere except sophisticated emulators. If you are lucky, your TV might have some zoom-stretch mode you can mess around with to force things into a correct perspective. The Wii era was especially torturous since widescreen was getting more popular but companies, including Nintendo themselves, didn't know how to handle it, and all buttons and menu items became flattened while still giving a wider viewing angle for the FPS games. It's terrible.

This compilation should be an obvious purchase for me but this aspect ratio thing makes me feel it is a cash grab and nothing else. Even discounted at $12 at the moment and Lost Vikings 2 included as a patch, I'm not sure I want to. Should I buy it anyway, when the aspect ratio is so obviously neglected?

Kinda neat game but tired of having to wait each time for each character to do their thing and doing the back n forth screen action. That's just the way the game hits me but I'm sure a lot of others will fin it funner than I did

I understand why the music is cut but unfortunately it makes the games terribly flat and bland ^_^ Too bad I can't get an idea if it's still a bit of fun to play or not (at 20€/$ for the compilation it's not just a bit of nostalgia, I'd like to feel like I can play them for hours and maybe finish them)

The only one I care about at all is the Lost Vikings, but why haven't they cleaned up the sprites?
I won't be buying this.
