As a female consumer, I like seeing models who represent "unobtainable beauty" because it inspires me to put more effort into myself and not become complacent. If I see a beautiful well dressed woman with great hair and a fit body it is inspiring, not insulting. It would only insult or offend those who are insecure. And if you are insecure then work on yourself! Woman should always strive to look and feel their best.

When I see a "model" that is morbidly obese, covered in tattoos (I have tattoos myself) lots of birth marks or deformities and so on, it completely distracts me from the product being sold. I don't want to see an "everyday person" I want to see a real model

I recall the advert where a group of women are using their office break, looking out of the window, to watch a young male builder take off his shirt. This was all to advertise cola, of course. Point being, I don't recall the outrage from older, fatter, more unfit, homosexual, short, skinny men, shouting 'what about us!'

The whole point of VS was to make women feel as sexy as the angels when they wear their products. I personally couldn't afford to shop there regularly, it was a splurge. Something to make me feel sexy and also for my husband. Most women don't wear sexy lingerie everyday. Now they're no different than Hanes or Fruit of the Loom. They threw away what made VS special. I'm not surprised they've failed miserably.
