Plants can on occasion suddenly die and it can be frustrating to determine the root cause but more often than not it seems to be grubs...

These grubs are all throughout my gardens due to the high prevalence of Japanese beetles in my area. Would definitely love to hear how to deal with them because my only methods now are to turn the soil as often as I can to dig a bunch of them out and then feed them to my quail. That and swatting the adults with a racket like little badminton "birdies"

Chickens love them! When I get them in my garden I take them to my neighbours chickens and it turns into a party! 😄

I use crushed eggshells mixed into the soil. The beetles don’t like the sharp edges.

I always put my plants with problems near where birds hang out, they help soooo much, they get a snack and i still get my plants! Love nature, fixes most my problems lol

My rose was in a pot. It was looking sad and wobbling. I took it out to put it in the ground and there were three freakin' huge grubs in there. Most of the roots were gone. I put it in the ground and cared for it and it is doing much better.

This is a super helpful video for a newer gardener such as myself. Really appreciate all your hard work!

When started gardening while living in nc I realized I'd have to repot all my plants every spring and fall as between the stupid tree in front of my rental sending in his greedy roots into every pot and the ravenous grubs I'd be lucky if a handful of perennials came back the next year. The birds were a big fans of repot day. They'd have scores of grubs to feast on.

If you have chickens, give them to the chickens as a snack!

I have the same problem in certain areas in my garden, my solution is get a old plastic container fill with whatever needed soil and put the container halfway in the soil, and it works, stay green 💚

Super cool that the plant was even able to produce peppers while it’s roots were being bothered.

CSI plant edition. This was honestly really catchy as a first video from you. Hope to see more.

We get grubs like that up in British Columbia, and we call them "Cutworms". They've got a nasty bite too, but they're a bit fatter usually.

Awesome way of breaking this down. Well done!

I had good luck mixing diatomaceous earth in the potting mix. Most of the "hippy" methods have serious drawbacks, but this one works for me. Especially handy for squash/pumpkins.

Definitely do a video on how to deal w/ grubs. Also did you feed them to your chickens?

I actually managed to catch these right before they ate into my serranos.
My pot's drainage holes don't directly touch the outside dirt and they weren't small enough to get in.
I try to move the pots around every once in a while to keep the beetles exposed to birds
