Wayne Jones, son of Celestine Chaney, gives victim impact statement

Celestine Chaney was one of 10 people shot and killed by Payton Gendron on May 14, 2022. On February 15, 2023, Gendron was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

My heart goes out to this man. You can hear in his voice the pain and the compassion he had for his mother, Celestine Chaney. Hopefully he and his family can find peace and promote the great values his mother blessed others with. My heart is with you, Wayne. Stay strong for you and the family and friends.

This guy clearly took a different approach. He humanized this monster. He made us think about his parents and what damage the internet is doing to this monster. I am going to leave this here for anyone who wants to be negative, "throw shade" or "trolling" .. this isn't acting or a racial driven cause. This is a fellow man hurting from the loss of his mother which sounded like an amazing woman.

Just look at some of the unhinged hatred that piled up in less than 15 minutes under a video of a black man remembering his murdered mother. It's a sick society where horrors like this can happen and a sicker one still where such horrors are celebrated.
