A Champion Gets Denied A Medal: Vinesh Phogat's Appeal Against Disqualification Dismissed

India will not win its 7th medal at the Paris Olympics as the Court of Arbitration for Sports denied Vinesh Phogat's appeal for a shared silver medal. The CAS released its operative verdict on Wednesday, 14 August, where it decided to uphold the decision of the International Olympic Committee. The Sports court is known for its strict application of the rules and regulations of the relevant sports federations, associations, or leagues. After this decision, Vinesh not only was not able to win silver but finished last in her category.

Yeh aloo paratha, chole batora diet nahin chalega. This is a total let down for India. the CAS verdict is fair and correct. being in-weight is the responsibiity of the athlete. Its the athlete's responsibility to buy a well calibrated weighing machine tied to the derriere at all times at least a week before the official weigh in and to control her weight by all means necessary including heavy aerobics and if that does not motivate enough then by a lot of "happiness" for the married folks. Looks like she did not bother to weigh in every minute of every session of either. OK at least she gets to see the eiffel tower at nation's expense.

Petty Usha must be pleased. BJP must be pleased- they were willing to sacrifice a Gold Medal to get back at Vinesh.

The of weight rule must be reviewed as the weight at first bout considered final with margin of two kilos more or less for further bouts during whole tournament
