Yea turo covers the drivers, i just need insurance when my car not being renting out. I rather pay 90$ a month instead 250$ with my own personal insurance

Hey brother, did you have the “ORP” policy or the “Commercial Auto” with Lula that they dropped you from?

Been doing this over 30 years. Though you can technically shift liability coverage to a renter in majority of states, don't rely on a renter's insurance, the personal auto carriers always seek to deny (or say excess) on both collision and liability for any unowned auto. They've updated their polices over the years.

Been doing this over 30 years at largest Rental MGA in country. Don't rely on any renter policy. All personal auto carriers are changing language to be excess, or not cover non owned autos (rental vehicles) for both liability and collision. We still have Case Law and some Statutes to use for liability enforcement currently, but don't rely on them.

Turo... Turo's insurance carrier will actually do everything they can to NOT cover you. Have a few lawsuits going right now with them because they refuse to cover the vehicle owner (the renting location). They may cover the renter, but they always say they are secondary in doing so, so that's a the first legal fight, but they also very much like to leave our renting locations holding the bag. Yes, Graves Amendment protects the car rental locations, but car rental companies still need someone to defend them and file the MSJ, and Turo generally doesn't want to do that.

What do you think about offering rentercover, or allianz insurance to customers without insurance or just as a insurance package to sell with the rentals?

If one of my vehicles are on a Turo trip, Turo insurance covers the trip. Additional insurance is not necessary during a trip. The only insurance I need is like you said for when I am driving to get gas, repairs, deliveries, washes. I don’t see the issue with your complaint. This is the type of insurance that I need.

Wanted to share my experience. They are just now paying off my claim that was filed back in August. Its Jan 2024. They may be going out of business. I think they have too many claims and not enough income.

Can you just refer to your renter as an emloyee as a solution in the event of an accident? How would they prove otherwise? Just tell your renter to say they were on the way to a car wash in the event of an accident. Thoughts?

I thought ppl used this insurance to cover their turo car when it is not being used? If that if the case, Lula sounds like it still will get the job done. Unless I am missing something? If Turo overs the car while it is being rented and Lula covers when it is not being rented, what is the con here?
