"Those Good Old Dreams" written by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis appeared on the Carpenters' 1981 A&M album, Made in America. Released as a single, it reached #21 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary and #63 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It can also be be found on the 4 CD Box Sets , Anthology and The Essential Collection on A&M . This is as close to country as the Carpenters would get. This was one of my most FAVORITE songs by "The Carpenters!!" It sounds like a little Country-style type of tune. I would sing it constantly as a kid when I listened to it on my cassette tape. I just couldn't enough of listening to Karen's voice!! It was SOOOO RICH AND PURE and every word was enunciated so CLEARLY!! I even liked her Christmas songs as well!! "The Carpenters" music will live in my heart FOREVER!!

First song I ever heard from the Carpenters was "Yesterday Once More" and I was under their spell forever!  This is one of my favorites too!  Thank-you Karen and Richard! :D

For many years I have heard this catchy, melodious song from the muzak at bookstores and restaurants. I recognized Karen Carpenter's voice in the song, but I never knew the title of the song until I hit upon "Those Good Old Dreams" on the YouTube just now. This serendipitous discovery of the haunting tune has made my day.

I heard this song many years ago and it seems to bring back so many good memories in my life.Even though as many people have said it is not a well known song, i still think it is one of their best,

Every once in awhile, as you you talk to someone, a special connection seems to appear.  I've felt it about 4-5 times in my life.  When I listen to Karen sing, I feel that same closeness, a special awareness.  Thank you, Karen.  I love you.

By far, one if my most favorite songs by the Carpenters - the other being "We've Only Just Begun".  And in a dream I had overnight recently, I was hearing and crying to the melody of "Those Good Old Dreams".  This song normally doesn't make me do that, either - but lately, very much so...
