This is the reason why Federer has a lot of problem against Nadal. Nadal is so good at baseline rallies and can do very good passing shots.

nadal is one of the best returner's imagine it's like an infighter/swarmer (mike tyson, rocky) vs an outfight/boxer (muhammad ali, apollo creed) the swarmer is gonna get a lot of bloody noses.

Why? He is a fantastic volleyer, probably the best on tour. He is having success, be it limited, in singles with a S & V in literally the worst possible conditions to do so and he still has been as high as 21 with that game!
So if he was relatively successful here he would probably be much more successful in S & V friendly conditions no?
I don;t understand how you can think otherwise.

Would have been a better result for Llodra if he hadn't missed those relatively easy volleys on critical points. On a better day I think it would have been alot closer.

Serve and volley can work against a player like nadal but not if you do it every time, because of his speed, you have to hit really good perfect volleys and he will just rip the ball at you or away really fast if you don't. And get him in trouble with your serve and know how to set up the ability to hit a approach shot that will get him off balance before you attempt to do it.

He miss them because nadal can hit alot of different shot which take away his reaction

Llodra is talented. But he has problems on his personality and attitude on his life. That's why he wasn't successful.
