Venezuela has oil, the largest crude reserves on earth. That's all you need to know about the U.S. and it's interest in Venezuela.

the opposition always with the same broken record since Chavez won the elections 1998. I always thought the Venezuelans revolution for Independence of Americas grip would end very quickly after the death of Chavez. I´m happy to see that despide of the harsh unmoral sanctions the fire of revolution persist. Go on Venezuela and keep up..."la lucha contra los molinos de viento (EE.UU)"

It's about oil and nothing else. America must protect the petro dollar at ALL costs. Venezuela has huge oil reserves, America wants it for their own companies and Venezuela wants to keep it. The banksters have made it difficult for any government transactions and have virtually cut off the country monetarily. It's a mess that was started long ago.

Some important technical detail. According to Art Berman (the oil specialist) Venezuelan oil is "heavy" oil whereas US oil is "light". US refineries cant operate properly on "light" oil only, hence the US needs heavier oil to mix it with (oil from Canada could work but they dont have the pipeline, think Obama stopped that). This makes the Venezuelan oil of strategic importance to the US (and its oil industry). So imposing oil embargo on Venezuela might not be what the US goes for. US has certainly made it clear that they would want regime change, so who knows what they come up with.

"Little Marco" still playing his regime change trumpet as usual. I guess the Miami exile community won't tolerate anything less - plenty of other politicians ready to say the same or worse if he doesn't. Another example of democracy at work - though somewhat ironic in this case. The USA had a policy for many years of immediate citizenship for any Cuban who so much as set foot on Miami - unlike today's anti-immigration fanaticism - and this led to a massive constituency of rabid ant-socialist exiles who have been loudly demanding coups or invasions in Cuba, Venezuela - or anywhere else remotely socialist - ever since.
