Toshiba Spectacle: World's First and Only 3D Monocle

Watching movies and playing games has never felt so real -- and so comfortable! The Spectacle is the product of groundbreaking technology and design, and fitting it all into a small circular package wasn't easy. How did we do it?

Two triangular polarizing lenses were melded in parallel and encased in black-plated tungsten carbide for a lightweight and durable construction. For comfort, the casing was molded into the shape of an average human eye hole, and draped in bonded leather.

Additionally, there are a variety of accessories available including:
- Handy Strap in Chain Link
- Designer Lenses
- Spec-Pouch for Easy Mobility

Toshiba Spectacle: Experience one-eyed 3D so real, you'd think you were using both eyes!

Important Consumer Notice: Refrain from using two Toshiba Spectacle 3D devices simultaneously in each eye. Doing so may cause each device to render the corresponding 3D image in 3D yet again, resulting in an uncomfortable and infinite loop.

If you haven't realized it by now, this is just our April Fool's joke for 2011. Although we're very serious about developing innovative products and technology, we enjoy pulling pranks and just having a good laugh too. Hope you liked this year's gag!

Can't stop watching this. The fantastic cinematography, the overly dramatic music, the nearly plausible and extremely timely product concept... the execution is simply perfect. I would like to shake the hand of the person who came up with the idea AND those of the executives who approved the budget.

Universal Studios' King Kong parody and April Fools joke all in the same video. Congrats Toshiba. I still don't like your computers, but I do like your commercials.

Considering it's possible to have glassless 3D screens, couldn't it be possible to have them work with a single lens? I would definitely rock the monocle TV.

Ouch. I was really excited until I read that this was an April Food's Day joke. I only can see out of one eye, and I can't see 3D at all, so something like this would mean a LOT to me.

So excited.... : /

I like your other commercials, but this one hits hard, personally.

... sooo... is this for tvs or is it for looking through in general? And if it's just for looking through in general, then I didn't know humans can only see 2D

Technically this work work; your brain takes longer to process darker images then brighter ones, meaning you will each eye will be seeing a different image, which is how stereoscopic vision works.

If I wear it turned off, will I see the environment in 3D?
