I don’t think she was a villain so much as a brainwashed hero. Just because it was a book & not a psychic or something doesn’t change that she was being influenced by dark forces.
Even a really great character can be corrupted by that thing & it had lots to draw on to manipulate her.
We didn’t call Hawkeye a villain for being brainwashed, but we do call Ronin Clint a villain or anti hero due to his choices.
I think she’s a hero who has been brainwashed into losing her way. I think the best argument for a time when she was being the villain was probably Wanda Vision.
I mean, in that case I’d argue that she was literally mentally ill & can’t be judged as harshly for her actions, it’s obvious that she knew it was wrong and chose to ignore it.
I can’t wait to see what happens with her character next. But I think she’ll find her way eventually.
