Thank you for listening! I am doing a series of short reviews of classics and personal favorites for those considering reading them. Many of these reviews are not full critiques as my aim is to convince viewers that these books are worth checking out.

Thanks for the review. Picked this up this morning and made it to Ford M. Ford. Surely interesting as a Polaroid of the period, but wasn't sure I would continue.
After seeing this, I'll definitely pick it back up tomorrow. Thanks👍

you should walk in his footsteps in Paris! lot of it is still there, and it is great fun to visit!

i vastly prefer the original edition to the newer one. its more familiar to everyone over the many years and more precise. i am glad you touched on both editions though. i will just say the biggest reason i do no like this newer version is because of the additions. especially one short story or chapter in particular that hemingway wrote about writing in the morning with his infant son. clearly he wrote that very beautiful short for himself and in no way intended it for the public. you would think anyone would be overjoyed for such a wonderful new story, but i literally threw my copy out the window after reading that i was so mad at them for publishing it lol.

Ha ha I was thinking the same thing, in that we had to read The old Man and the Sea, and it was a huge yawn. Now as a mature adult, I can really appreciate Feast, and well what was that 100 or so years ago? So romantic!

I just read this and even though I loved both this book can't have been more different than The Old Man and the Sea. Are you considering reading any other books by Hemingway?
