Oh my God! The editting is deplorable. But! I love the history that comes with places like this. You know when people say, I wish these wall can talk. Well, here they do. One will never really know everything. It give us a chance to imagine the rest.

How very lucky these people are, what a fantastic place and history. The current owners seem to be nice people also which is great to know.

It's unfortunate that a residence with such current fame associated with a social historic program was edited so BADLY!

I totally enjoyed this documentary, despite the frustrating editing. When I figured out the mirror reversing of this, I just waited for the section, I could read. I’m a stickler for the lip syncing to match the words. When I realized this was not going to happen, I turned my attention to the beautiful visual imaging of the countryside, interior of the castle (which was magnificent)! When the history of the castle was shown, has ANYONE watched old newspaper articles, online of photos with people in them? Photos 100 years ago didn’t have the capacity to print AND reprint ANYTHING with shadows. Those photos of the staff (inside and outside) were flat! No one could really identify people. As technology progressed, the shadows, contrast and brightness; with copying for reprint improved, although slowly. Newspapers especially used the dot matrix technology to copy and print.

Those of us who remember in the 60’s the ditto machines, for reproduction for any school project, or tests. I recall those papers with the purple print, and lousy quality. There was another antiquated copying method that was not cost effective. It ran on the technique of a Polaroid. Put the paper to be copied in the hopper, then run a timer on chemically treated paper to be sure the light was creating the proper exposure to be copied. When the timer stopped, we’d be able to remove the paper, and hopefully peel the two pages apart to hopefully get a great reproduction of what needed to be copied. I never could master the pealing as the black part of the one side would not peal, thus sticking to the good page needed. Bless the individual who created the Xerox machine! That was the best thing invented since sliced bread! We could reprint as many copies as needed, as long as the toner held. Once the cassette filled with the toner ran out, it was time to refill it.

What I’m saying is back 100 years we didn’t have the ability to reproduce the clear photos we can now. So we can’t gripe about that. Concentrate on what we did see in this beautiful castle

The Carnarvons are to be admired in so many ways. Lady Fiona is a remarkable writer, and Lord Carnarvon is also such a fine steward of all that he’s inherited. I respect them tremendously. Apart from the woeful editing, this was brilliant.

Your editing is terrible. These features are almost unwatchable!

A lot of similarities to the Downton Abbey family. Interesting Doc. Thank you!

Image change is terrible. Who edited the film? It's enough to give you a visual disturbance.

So, basically, the story of Downton Abbey is the story of Highclere (and many other similar manors). Who's looking forward to the new Downton movie?!!!

I've been watching this documentary on TV. Who ever edited this was ADHD. Flipping the same pictures from the left to right. Words are backwards and forward so you can't read the script and sometimes the audio is not synced with the spoken words. It was very frustrating.

The sitting room has more square footage than my whole house, I’d hate to be paying the heating bill..it’s architecture is absolutely mind blowingie beautiful though..

Love this documentary but the editing is simply horrible! Too amature for such a subject.

Beautiful. We had a huge house in Colorado in the mountains and we had a lot of weddings but you might think of having some tea dances. Her ladies or hats and they dress kind of old-fashioned. That would have been fun but I ran out of time. We also had barbecues and hayrides. Takes a lot of money to keep these things together.

ERROR: they are NOT the "Canarvon family" 😂😂😂 They are the Herbert family. Head of the family, George Herbert, is the 8th Earl of Canarvon. He is styled Lord Canarvon.

It has great history and comments but needs to be completely edited. The mirroring flipping from side to side is horrible. Take it down and redo it. It reflects terribly on the fine history of the estate!
