One house traumatizes a whole community on New Years Day! Remember 2011 when 5 workers died in Waikele, in a stockpiled tunnel, nothing happened to change what happened today Happy freakin New

all the laws they make banning fireworks yet make no effort to stop them from being shipped into the state. the fact that tons of, well basically explosives, are shipped into the state unnoticed is amazing

person who owns that house has a whole sht storm coming from law enforcement, family of the fatalities and social media. this event will tear family, buisiness and relationships apart. A domino effect that will make people effected that were once friends into enemies.

Wasn’t there some HPD task force that we spent a bunch of money on who was supposed to take care of stuff like this?

The sheer amount that u see in the air last night and every year Is the example how the state fails from stopping them in threw the port of entry. That is the real problem here. . Could see missing 10% of smuggling in not caught, but possibly million of dollars worth.. people can't buy what they can't get.... focus attention to customs and port authority

HPD is partly responsible because they don't enforce the laws.

Should this result in banning fireworks?

That's what happens when you guys are not doing your job. I saw cops out at 10:00pm but when 12 midnight hit there were no cops in sight to enforce the illegal aerials. Take responsibility and be accountable.

How many in the HPD getting free fireworks to do nothing when neighbors report these houses? All of them. HPD corrupt AF.

Hawaii lawmakers made it difficult to purchase safe consumer fireworks by banning sparklers and fountains and imposing a permit requirement for firecrackers. As a result, many people turned to the black market, which primarily sells dangerous, professional-grade pyrotechnics.

HPD Chief Logan is all mouth. Do your job chief, your police officers live in our residential communities. Why aren't they doing their job to stop illegal firework activity where they live sir? Aren't on the job even though they are off duty sir? If they won't do their job, then fire them, and replace them with people who will enforce the illegal firework laws sir. If you can't do this, than you should be fired too and replaced sir.

Should have never happened? Lack of enforcement caused this. Is this really Hawaii "culture"? Sad. This is overshadowing the numerous fingers and hands that were blown off last night, too.
