Using partner assisted scanning and PODD

Показать описание
In this clip we are at IKEA talking about how mom is hot (in a weather sort of way 😜). A few things about this clip -- Angela still is not giving a no unless we are using the ending navigational scan. I should be telling her what her head is doing when she is pausing/listening, for example "your head is down and to the side, you are telling me no" with the goal that we would help mold that movement into a clear no. She obviously has a great no movement as you can see her curls shake when scanning the navigation! I feel like she just may have trouble listening and motor planning simultaneously. We will get there!
The other thing is that we have had this bad habit of not going to the next page when the kids request things like iPad. The iPad symbol leads to another page but we have always cut them off. What the heck?! We need to stop ASAP. So rude of us. I feel like we started doing it out of fear -- like we were so happy they were giving a message we wanted to end it while it was going good (before they had a chance to make a mistake). So bad on our part. Don't do this. Mistakes are cool! They really help them and us learn the PODD and shouldn't be avoided.
Despite me cutting her off after her request of her iPad/computer she was able to continue her message and ask for a video on her iPad! That's pretty cool. We are just starting to see this "next level" communication -- where they use an extra word to expand their message.
Yeah! So much fun!
