Meditation 'Veni Emmanuel' - Philip Moore

Показать описание
This meditation on the familiar Advent melody "Veni Emmanuel" was composed by Philip Moore, for many years Organist and Master of the Choristers at York Minster. His directions state that "this piece should be played with the utmost freedom, giving the impression of an improvisation". It is published in Oxford Hymn Settings for Organists - Advent and Christmas (Volume 1).
This recording was made on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the fine Hill organ in the church of the Holy Name, opposite the University of Manchester on Oxford Road, Manchester (the organ case is pictured at the beginning and end of the video). The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position, affording the most generous recording of the wonderful acoustic in this fine building.
