For those that are commenting why I downgraded just to a 13 when I could’ve kept my 14 Pro Max, you’re missing the whole point of the video lol.

1. Sold the iPhone 14 Pro Max for much more money
2. I got a 13 for half the price of the 14 Pro Max
3. Saved the left over money

The point of the video was realization that we don’t need the latest thing/yearly upgrade when our previous phones can do the same things. It is to break the cycle of constantly being compelled to upgrade so I did the opposite. It’s not to do with saving money however it’s true I could’ve downgraded to an iPhone X or 11 or even some android phone, but for my specific content creation needs I chose the 13 simply for the cinematic mode and compatibility with my AirPods/MacBook for video editing. Hope this clears things up ☝️🙏

For me every time I want a new phone, I just get a new phone case and change my home screens.

if you already have a perfectly functional phone, keep it until is dead. Simply as that!!

I have upgraded from a 13 to a 15 pro. And honestly. It’s really not that different in day to day use. Don’t fall for all the hype and marketing. The iPhone 13 has is beast.

I upgrade when there is an extremely good price for it. I had an iPhone 11 and was going to continue for years to come. But when AT&T offered a trade in credit of $830 for my iPhone 11 (that I bought used for $400). That’s when upgrading was worth it. Now I upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro for only $170

I’ve had my 11 for a while now, im so dedicated to not upgrading yet that I’ve learned how to replace the screen and have replaced the broken screen twice now and it still works great.

I love my 12 mini for its size and it works perfectly fine. Fulfills all my needs and requirements. I do sometimes get tempted by the latest ones but then I remind myself that my current phone is capable of doing all the things that I want to do so I have no reason to upgrade. I just hope someday in the future they start making the mini series again.

I only upgrade when I have issues or the the older stuff no longer support what i need to do.

Agree because the majority of people only use their phone to scroll endlessly on social media, watch YouTube vids, message their friends & and family, etc, spending 800 or 1500 for the things mentioned is not worth it

U got it right . Most people do it because it’s the last trend or to impress. I know people who have the same phone for 5 years and got no complaints (battery sometimes) with it. A lil upgrade here and there doesn’t worth to spend cash on latest tech.

Exactly this! I never was a consoomer, but some people think they need to upgrade. I heard students talk behind me about how one of them bought a new iPhone for a gigantic amount and had no to little differences. Ending up regretting it that she went with a newer one while her older iPhone worked perfectly fine. I also upgraded without meaning to a newer phone. Not as expensive, but ended up regretting it. Even though battery life was better and my old phone really old. I still could have used my older one for so many years, saving money, saving energy, saving ressources so on and so on. Now I will stick to my device until it is not functioning anymore or really really bad. And probabaly will only buy from second hand or refurbished products. Guys and gals, please keep in mind what this video taught you. Do not upgrade if you don't NEED to. Don't upgrade immeditely and especially do not let these tech firms get all your money.

I’m sticking with my 12 Mini! I love the small form factor first and foremost, and the newer ones don’t seem to be much of an upgrade anyhow.

Been rocking my iPhone 11 Pro since 2021 and I got the battery replaced last year, my phone works great and even though it would be nice to have a “better, newer” phone I am more than happy and comfortable using this one until it’s done.

Social media has a huge impact with all the hype and all companies (not just Apple) are really benefiting from them. If there was no social media, most people would just stick with their phones - maybe 3 or more years. Basically free advertising from them just by using our phones.

I love that this video blew up for you, and that you're defending your choices. Wisdom in creativity doesn't mean constantly upgrading, like you said here in your video. Thanks so much for de-influencing.

I also bought the iphone 13 about 2 months ago. Love it! It has everything, and i don't see myself upgrading in a long time

I love my iPhone 11 Pro. It's still fast and the battery life is great. It also still gets security updates. As long as I can safely operate Waze while driving, perform basic tasks and its security isn't permanently compromised, I have no reason to change.

Phones nowadays are much more mature than 10 years ago. We aren't getting the same performance jump we did when we had the iPhone 4, 4s, 5 and 5s, so it's natural that the current hardware lasts longer.

I got an XR back in July 2019 and served me well. Since I was doing well with money and, even after replacing its battery, the XR didn't last long away from a charger, I went for a 14 Pro last August. However, after spending around $1350 for it, I regret it. I feel like I could have gotten 2-3 more years out of my XR and I probably used it a bit too much. Life lesson right there

I realized something this last year and it's that upgrading every 2 years is WORTH IT! Every year the phone you own depreciates in value so don't think for a second that you're saving money. If you sell off your old phone, you can pay the difference for the new phone. As a phone gets older, fewer people want to buy it. However, there are plenty of people who want to buy a 2 year old iPhone compared to 3 or 4 year old iPhone. Based on this what I determined is that the cost of upgrading every 2 years vs every 4 years over a 12 year span is only $500 more! I am 100% taking 6 upgrades for $500 extra over 12 years over 3 upgrades. You have to be savvy to pull it off but it's possible.
