Hannibal is underrated? Where are you from? He’s one of the most celebrated and studied military commanders in the history of the world. Anyone who knows anything about military history knows his name and achievements.

I find most interesting thing about Hannibal is that most of his stories comes from his enemies and still his enemies had to marvel at the achievements he made throughout his military career

Imagine if Carthage did not backstab Hannibal and sent reinforcement

Most don't know that he could have easily taken all of Rome but when he asked for reinforcements his political rival in Carthage talked people out of sending them, only out of spite to see Hannibal defeated and not able to solidify his power in Carthage.
Very sad really, having your own army destroyed and later your entire nation just to see a rival fail.

They need to make a movie about this man.

So underrated that his name is written on a stone on the most famous painting of Napoleon Bonaparte.
His name is right next to the names Napoleon and Charlemagne. That's right, even the man who conquered continental Europe needed to claim Hannibal's legacy.

Hannibal actually lost about half his army while crossing the alps and STILL devastated Rome. That man was a true force to be reckoned with

Hannibal my son, stand before the gods and swear that from this day until your last, that you will always be an enemy of Rome

Out of 16 major battles, he only lost one. It was his final battle, the battle of zama. After Hannibal was defeated, the Romans would go on to dominate the Mediterranean for centuries.

"The only man truly threated rome"

Yep, that's Hannibal

His flaw was that he knew how to win battles but didnt know how to win a war. His brother said to him "you steal defeat from the mouth of victory"

Rome wasn’t an Empire yet it was a Republic during Hannibal’s time.

He fought the Roman Republic over 225 years before it became the empire. Amazing General and tactician

Hannibal is one of the great generals in history who won many brilliant victories but lost the war. He is like Robert E Lee or Richard the Lionheart. As one of his commanders said to him after the battle of Cannae,  'Hannibal, you know how to gain a victory, but not how to use one.'

Correction, he fought against the Roman Republic not Empire

If he hadn't been backstabbed by his own leadership, he may have actually defeated Rome.

Robert E. Lee studied Hannibal, so did Julius Caesar and Napoleon Boneparte. Hannibal inflicted such devasting blows, he brought Rome to her heels twice. Also, he pretty much did this on his own without any support from Carthage because they technically had no standing army but relied on mercenaries.

And a little side note, there was no Roman Empire by this point, it was still the Roman Republic.
