Shear force and bending moment diagram practice problem #8

preview_player
Показать описание

This tutorial goes over how to draw the shear force diagram, bending moment diagram, and deflected shape of an overhanging beam that is subjected to two point loads. The deflected shape of this beam has an inflection point, which is indicated to us by the point on the bending moment diagram that crosses the axis. It's location is quite easily determined by using similar triangles.

one of the best explanations on the topic; simple and clear. I'm preparing for my exams watching your videos! Thank you!

Thanks for the videos! Helped me a lot! Our exams on college don't have numbers, we do everything with variables and it makes the whole process harder

Sir, I wanna ask you something about the SFD. At the last part of it, the shear force is 20Kn, when we draw it on paper should we draw a certain(bold like you drew from -30 to 20 in same diagram) line or can we just leave it in the point of 20

For some reason in the markscheme for the BMD diagram the answer is always reflected in the x axis of your BMD diagram, can you please explain the logic behind it

what if you have a vertical beam along with a horizontal?

Why isn't the moment at B = 0? It's at a roller support and there shouldn't be any moment there

Why is this? In these examples positive shear always translates to moment curve going upwards
