Him doing that thing where he lists off all the things his government has done is so embarrassing. I was preparing myself for "vaccine rollout" and "fastest in the G7"

I am a lefty so Boris is no chum of mine but his answer should have been "We should all be scared of WW3 and as bad as it is in Ukraine WW3 would be way worse for many millions of extra people". Her point about seizing property etc is a valid one and her distress does make the pragmatic response even less satisfying.

Her point about oligarch money and families not even being in Russia and stuff is an excellent one actually. Oligarchy has no borders, and the kleptocrats have no nation. Sanctions only hurt regular people while the rich and powerful are beyond the scope of them since they live in the countries pretending to be doing anything...

Poor Boris having to pretend he cares through that whole question. He doesn’t even care about his own people so why would he give a s**** about the Ukrainian people

Nice sidestep of the topic of harbouring the oligarchs in the UK

Ukraine have a comedian who has become a statesman. We have a politician that's become a comedian

This reporter is asking some tough questions but sadly she's asking the wrong person.
Ukraine we support you 🇺🇦 🇬🇧

I understand her emotion and why she can't see it at the moment, but there's clearly no way Nato countries are risking shooting down Russian planes. WW3 has not already started but a no-fly zone would risk starting it.

The UK enforcing a no fly zone sounds passive but it means direct fighting between the UK and Russia, and potential subsequent war between those states.

What a powerful and emotional challenge from Daria Kaleniuk. It's such a shame that this war is on such a knife edge. This really is a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't for all NATO and European countries.

Remember when a Palestinian journalist was allowed to grandstand like this? And Assange was given a standing ovation?....me neither...pure theatre 🤬

Johnson is so out of his depth it’s beyond embarrassing.

All he needed to say was that while he understands her views the implementation of a no-fly zone could escalate fighting far beyond where it stands now. And that the UK and it’s allies are focusing on how to best support Ukraine in any way they can. Whether or not you believe in that statement.

Yet he sees this reporter clearly distraught and goes on to use the same spin-doctor talking points and gives just a complete word salad of an answer. He’s ridiculous.

Edit: shocked at how many of you don’t comprehend my point. She is crying and hurt, she’s seeing her nation be destroyed. Do you honestly think this long-winded answer with really jumbled points made her or any Ukrainian watching feel any genuine comfort? Or being told that the UK was one of the first to help and will continue to help is in any way beneficial? If you agree with that and are salivating for an argument then ok by all means go ahead, but my god this was a clear question and it deserved a clear answer.

She is an activist, she is not a journalist!

We’re so privileged in the uk, so lucky, unfortunately we don’t realize it . Wonderful, passionate journalism. So sorry.

This may be the first time I've heard Johnson give a full and honest and transparent answer

We didn't have these debates when thousands of innocent Iraqis and Afghans were slaughtered.

There are very few people in the UK who have even the vaguest idea of how lucky they are. The country was last invaded in the middle ages. We can't even begin to understand how the Ukrainians must be feeling.

The issue is that if there is a no fly zone, that no fly zone needs to be enforced. How do you enforce it? Typically through force. Which means to put a no fly zone over Ukraine means that NATO allies would need to use force against Russians... which would inevitably escalate to a much larger, potentially nuclear conflict.

I understand her position and would love to have our forces go in... but we can't without making things much worse for many more people.
