When you understand that Warrel Dane was a drug user who had dealt with alot of trauma in his childhood and adult life. For example aside from his father's death early on in his life.
One of his exgirlfriends, he later found out was a victim of the truckstop killer Robert Rhoades(this is what Dreaming Neon Black is about).
These lyrics hit pretty hard.

underrated band... too bad nobody will ever hear his voice again and I’m sad been following nevermore since they formed and tell all the way to 2010 when they went on their hiatus and then sanctuary tell his death
