The Events That Led to the Downfall of The BCS...

In this video we cover every year of the Bowl Championship Series that determined the national champion of college football. The BCS was the most controversial playoff system in college sports, many teams were left out of BCS Bowl games and most importantly, many teams were robbed of a chance to compete for a national championship. It took college football many attempts to get to the current college football playoff system, the bowl coalition, bowl alliance, and the bowl championship series were all seen as flawed systems that were under congressional pressure due to being unfair and even President Barack Obama had something to say about the BCS. The BCS saw a split national championship, the very thing it was created to avoid, and multiple changes to the formula over the years thanks to backlash against the flawed system. So join me as we go year by years looking at the many scandals, failures and even successes that eventually led to the college football playoff.

Mike Leach said it best - as long as there’s a committee, it’s not a true playoff. The current CFP is nothing more than an invitational. Expanding the number of teams helps, sure, but it’s just a bigger invitational. Get rid of the committee and the arbitrary/inconsistent selection process. Do what the FCS, D2, and D3 do. Maybe then FBS will have an NCAA-sanctioned playoff (though that may not matter soon, given the NCAA’s irrelevancy)

The BCS was a complete disaster. This playoff system isn't perfect, but for me, a playoff system is always better than allowing computers eliminate teams.

How does FCS, Division 2, Division 3, NAIA, Junior College, and 3C2A have a much more organized post-season than the FBS is beyond me. If they're really going to do a playoff then they should get rid of the bowl system because you can't do both on a consistent amount of time.
