I forgot they deleted it! I was so confused when it suddenly vanished while I was rereading this arc. Controversial opinion: I loved this chapter

I haven't read the manga and have only seen season one of One Punch Man. However the original talking seems like it would have fit. I could see these two just talking things out, then finishing the fight. Interesting to see how people reacted.

I absolutely love the idea of the consequences of their fight is accidentally saving people everywhere they cause destruction. Is such a beautiful way if embodying the natural hero aspects of the story because destruction can be used for good and is rarely represented in this way.

I 100% agree with Nux on this vid! There was definitely going to be more fighting after that break, but it was probably to give the artists a slight break while continuing to build our attachments to the characters

Maybe for the anime they will show that scene but as the mental image of the communication they are having as fighters? I always loved that type of imagery in anime

It didn't get hated on tbh, people really liked it. it's just that the chapter it got replaced with was on internet breaking levels of good, I can see how some think it turned into hatred towards the og chapter but nah.
The fandom was actually surprised when Murata changed the chapter, they didn't hate on it to the point of forcing him to do so.

Honestly that’s so stupid that they got rid of that chapter because the fans wanted a longer fight, it was literally perfect the way it was. Since saitama literally forces garou to acknowledge that he could never be a monster do to him still having a heart and instead of ending the fight, Saitama simply talks with garou about what’s eating him up instead of ending the fight like he typically does. Which drastically shows how much Saitama has changed over the years.🐱

In regards to AoT/SnK one always has to remember that the ending we got was not the one the author wanted or planned, he got coerced by his editor to change the ending he wanted.

4:56 in hindsight... god was probably going to contact Garou mid-conversation saying Saitama is lying... blah blah blah... leading to the next part of the fight.
people were jumping the gun thinking the fight was over.

I also doubt that ONE/Murata and his team redrew the chapter because of fan backlash. Murata has redrew dozens of OPM chapters to better fit future story arcs and I think it's just an extreme case of that. I think Murata simply changed his mind for creative reason: maybe he didn't think that it would make sense for Garou to give up so soon, or that the therapy session intermission would make the end of the fight ideologically redundant.

OPM fans: "Noooo Saitama and Garou shouldn't sit down an talk"

Manga: Gets changed so that they no longer stop to talk

OPM fans: "The manga will never be at the level of quality of the webcomic, the talk they have is irreplaceable"

I never even knew about the drama and thought One changed the chapter to improve the pacing. The original version was good, but looking back, I don't think think either character is, at that point, able to change anything with words alone.

The break in pacing in the original chapter might not have worked, depending on the conversation. If it's just the two of them rehashing things we already know, it 's not needed.

I was reading the manga as it was coming out and I was really confused on why the chapter suddenly changed cuz I was also a fan of the first version but I wasn’t too upset because the direction they changed it to was just super hype so I couldn’t be mad

I think they wanted to achieve something similar to the ONE version of OPM where garou talked things out with garou while fighting. At the end Amai Mask wanted Saitama to kill Garou but if i remember correctly Bang tried to tell Saitama to spare him ( Saitama did not want to kill him anyways ) and lets him go. ( not even sure if this was accurate, its been pretty long since i read the ONE version of OPM )

I actually enjoyed the original. When I found out he changed it I was genuinely surprised. It was legit closure, but people wanted a DBZ fight.

The chapter was nothing like the web series, so I was expecting it to be another retcon chapter from the beginning, but I still wanted to know, "What kind of conversation were they about to have?"

I just thought they retconned it early because he couldn't think of a conversation impactful enough to be worth having without making the word bubbles look like Hunter x Hunter for an entire chapter, so he gave up before the talk, lol

Garou's choice is one of my absolute favorite dualities in all of anime and manga. I remember when reading the next chapter, I thought, "Huh? This is the same as last chapter!? Did they reupload it!?" And then I read the end and was even more confused.

I was, and still am, really bummed out thinking that we wouldn't get the character analysis and comparison between Garou and Saitama, the explaining (between characters) of ideals and motives, and the clearing up of the several misunderstandings between them.

I liked this chapter too, I thought it would humanise Garou more than the other chapters did. Like how many main characters sit a villain down and just talk things out?
