"I did not hurt anyone."
I'd argue those kids are awfully hurt and will be damaged from the experience you perpetuated by supplying a market.

As great as Rami Malek’s performance is, can we give props to the guy playing Ron? He perfectly plays a person who knows they’re completely fucked and is trying to desperately to stay in control

"I did not hurt anyone"
That is such a good line to describe the fucked up mentality of someone like this. He thinks because he himself never physically did anything to a child that he's done nothing wrong.... He never once gave a thought to how many kids got kidnapped and abused thanks to the market he created.

This is honestly, I’m my opinion, the greatest opening to a show ever. It both sets a tone and creates an expectation for the show that it would soon dispel. It also tells us so much about Elliot as a character in such a short span without being too expository.

Ron tries to play into Elliott's insecurities about his Dad when he reveals his passing, as a way to build rapport. Then he tries to shed some crocodile tears. Dude is a master manipulator - Elliott is just so different that it doesn't work on him.

If anyone is wondering, everything Elliot described when talking about hacking is actually pretty accurate and realistic

Elliott was legit scary here. He's a different kind of intimidating. In a way, he's like a robot (heh). Once he sets his eyes on you, you're done. You can't convince him to spare you and you can't get him to stop.

4:26 I like how as soon as Ron shows any form of aggression you can see Elliot recoil back a bit. It’s a nice touch

Rami as Elliot always sounds like he’s shivering.

If you work in cybersecurity, this is a must watch. Most of what is shown is realistic, unlike the other shows where they show a bunch on animation on computer screen

Knowing all of the details of Elliot's character makes this scene so much more powerful. He was very motivated to go after people like Ron.

Both actors are incredible convincing. Idk if it’s hard or not, but can’t imagine playing a character with a mental condition, toppled with social anxiety must be pretty hard to do lmao.
The actor who also played Ron is also very good. His body language does most of the talking in this scene. He’s seeing a potential end to his entire life and his looking and any angle, desperately, to try to take control or even negotiate his way out of this one.

As soon as he said Ron’s name, you could see him tear up as he found out that we was exposed.

A great stand alone scene, well-written, sets the mood/tone for the series, and a perfect introduction to the complex main character. One of the all time best opening scenes to a television show.

He is incredible to watch. His timing. I don't know how else to describe it. He hangs on little micro-moments by not speaking, not doing anything, just in the moment acting. Almost like he doesn't know what he's going to do next. He's just an incredible actor.

As a Cybersecurity student currently studying about Networking, There are so many things i learn from this series, like Onion Routing, Honeypot, Firewall, etc. My Cyber lecturer even suggest to watch this Series and make a resume summary in Final Exam last Semester as this has so many keyword we can get and learn about it. Great Series.

"I don't give a sht about money".
That was literally the most badass dialogue I have ever seen

Most all online pedophiles all say the same thing "I didn't hurt anyone". This guy takes it one step further by adding "that's my personal life". Weak and pathetic excuse for a human

This Elliot is pretty terrifying tbh, unlike the average Elliot we see in the whole series, this Elliot is more like the true MasterMind.

He could care less about his dad's death. But he jumped on the opportunity to pretend to care in hopes that he'd be let off the hook. The actor sold it well.
