I remember when Bill Fleckenstein would debate the late Joe Battipaglia on Bulls vs Bears on CNBC in mid 2000's. Bill was the bear and Joe was the bull. Bill was one of few who thought that the market was going to crash and he was correct.

I think once inflation really takes off like in the 70s, for example if the dollar starts to fall, that's when gold takes off. Could be many years but we recommend people hold 5-10% in gold as insurance against that happening. Hold a bit in pound and yen also due to lower military expense there compared to U.S.. deficits and qe going vertical.
