is there a process 'generating' the heat of the core?, or is it the same heat as from formation? can the crust be that good a thermal insulator? ... what do we know about the core of Mars?

If the earth is a conglomerate of lose material that was orbiting the sun, how is it that some rocks are older than other rocks. If all the lava came from inside the earth how is it that some can be older than others. Does it have no age when it is molten? How old is a new lava flow in Hawii?
