A new stereotype about Americans? 🤔😅

maybe it's from all the American films they've watched where the main character (usually a teen in this case) gets up for the day, dry brushes their teeth, go downstairs to a gigantic breakfast spread their mother has put on, takes a sip of orange juice and leaves for school

Nooo as a German I can tell you the only typical American teeth stereotype is that y'all have perfect teeth lol

As an Englishwoman I have no idea why one of my compatriots would think Americans don't use toothpaste...

As a non-American, I used to think they didn't use toothpaste, too. This is because, in movies, the person brushing their teeth *never* uses toothpaste. So, I just assumed it was like that in the US. So, I guess the stereotype comes from the movies.

That person definitely wasn't British if they were willing to talk to you in a lift. Definitely a stealth Australian!

Not the British questioning Americas oral hygiene 😂

This is so strange because I always thought Americans took dental hygiene really seriously 😂

I’m British and I’ve never heard it said Americans don’t use toothpaste. That rando must have some really funny ideas 😂

This video sums up my decade in Britain as a naturalized citizen. The insane amount of weird things people believe about North America is unreal.

My favorite is definitely the one where a friend really didn't understand how big the place is, and said they were going "on holiday" to the US (it''s never 'vacation' it's 'holiday' in Britain) for a week and wanted to see NYC, Orlando and LA in the time and asked me for the best highway routes to take because they were renting a car for a road trip. I said "You're not hitting up NYC and LA in a week." "Why not" "Not without a plane, you're not. Not in a week." "Why NOT?" "To put it in perspective, that's equivalent of saying you want to drive from London to Morocco, and you complain about the two hour drive to Bristol."

Some Americans explained to my french teacher on a trip to the US, what a fridge was, because they thought we didn't have them in France... so I guess there's just odd people in every countries^^

Sounds like they heard about “dry brushing” for improved circulation and assumed it meant for the teeth 🤷‍♀️

I’m British and I’ve never heard this one… although on screen you see a lot of actors brushing with nothing in their mouths — I just imagined this was a convenience thing, rather than something real people actually did.

I always hear our across the pond neighbors talking about our “big white artificial” smiles. This is a new one for me. We definitely use toothpaste. Even on the artificial smiles. 🥰

I think it might be because of what you see in tv shows. They never actually brush their teeth on tv, could be where the confusion comes from. 🤷‍♀️

I always thought that we were stereotyped to have nice white teeth lol this is a new one I’ve learned

Edit: ok guys I get it… not “nice” teeth but “artificial” I got it after the first comment
