Tonfa is so underestimated. This weapon is extremely versatile and effective. I loved training with this weapon.

Logically speaking, the staff is slightly better range wise, but with the swing of the tonfa it is not as predictable.

I like tonfa. Really good control. But in practice tonfa is totally ineffective against seriously executed baton stabs. - At least if it is held this way.

You can jab quickly with it. You can clobber with it. You can use it just kind of like a stick. You can still actually punch with it with your fist. You can defend well with it. You can use it with just one and have the other hand to grapple, or you can use two.

I fell like tonfa is a weapon for literally everyone in the same way that willow is literally a plant for literally everyone from the herbalist to the weaver and to the bonsai enthusiast.

Guy with the staff is like a video game NPC waiting for you to attack. I think the diminishing returns on the applause reflect the audience gradually realizing just how staged this "fight" is.

I love tonfa but the problem is it's not good for self defense. Not every day you have a tonfa on your side or even law enforcement stopped using that.
