The stav (staff) of the Norse volva is one of the spiritual grandmothers of the Witch's Stang. Laurelei shares a little of the surprising history and folklore that connects the two remarkable tools.

All of the love for Odin and Frau Holda! I've worked with Odin in heathenry for 20 years and he led me to Trad Craft.

@Blade and Broom I bought this from the same artist. I had him replace the iron wrap with bronze to more closely approximate the historical finds.

Hello, enjoying your channel. I have my stang and have had it for years now.
It is very special to me BUT I am looking for the top part.
I fell in love with yours when i saw it, would you mind telling me where you purchased it from?
I am talking about the top, antler part. I assume it is metal / iron?
Thank you very much for any info you may be able to give me on were i can find this.

I have a magnificent twisted stang from a tree limb with a fork and several knobs up and down it where I hang crystals and lavender. A friend found it kayaking. I found out about it looking up forked stick.

Interesting and informative. I would add that the distaff is actually sacred to Frigg, Odin's wife. She is often depicted holding a distaff.

My dad's name was Black. I don't have any witches in my family on the Williams side, and I've never met the Blacks. Maybe we're related.
