Thank you Mr Canterbury! You have managed to bring back so many memories with this wonderful video. My Grandfather was blacksmith, who had a love for creating tools. And my father was a metallurgist. So I grew up watching the magic of forging. It warms my old spirit knowing there are young men like you who are keeping ancestral wisdom alive for others to learn from.

I'll tell you this. I've been on this youtube since it began and I can say with all confidence that if I could take one person with me if the SHTF? It would be you, Dave. I can't imagine a more rounded survivalist; than you. I know you've worked hard to earn this comment. Thanks for teaching us.

Great video as always. You should do a "Shop tour" and go through your progression of the kit you started smithing with to what you have now. Cheers

Dave, i love all your Blacksmithing series for woodworking tools. I was curious as to your thoughts on re purposing a hammer/hatchet into a hatchet/adze and reshaping the hammer into an adze. Would this be something you could do? Thanks for the videos, and Dirty Rotten Survival is awesome!

Hay Dave
I think you would have an easier time working your metal, if you let it get a little hotter, and stop hitting it when it starts cooling off.  Dave too

The GMO adds that are before every one of his videos is really sad to see how these Mega corporations can brain wash people to thinking that round up is good for you

you need to see if you can find a swage block, they're big and heavy but worth it if you do much rounding

Hey dave I would recommend you use the peen cross peen hammer for widening jobs like this. Just lets you widen in fewer heats.

One year I ran across some great metal tools...I didn't know and still don't know what the hell they are but he was really thrilled...SEVERAL.WHERE THINGS U USE WHEN POUR ING HOT METAL AND HOLDING HOT METAL . A.couple were old time books that.showed how to do things a long long time.ago...before all this electrical stuff.

He is my problem.gift guy...and such a nice kid FroM SICH A NICE.FAMILY...his dad is in.afganistan....and mom and dad put on a.halloween charity thst raises a lot of food for a locsl.food.bank...in.fact we are.going to try to gather people to help her.set up and take it down since.he isnt.around. this year...so.far I have four.volunteers...we will.see if the actually come help...but I know that hubby and I and her son and.daughterin law will.definately.help...if they can get off work and travel east...

Anyway any ideas would be appreciated ...or if someone had some tool they might want to sell me at a good price I can clean it up and wrap it....hint lhint.

I do want to give him something that when he is an old man he will remeMber me and say that old lady sure did try and did good....ESPECIALLY.SINCE I DONT HAVE MUCH MONEY...and maybe if he EVER CHANGES HIS MIND OR ADOPTS.an.older.child. as.they.are.thinking now...

.. HE WILL TELL HIS KID(S) WHERE THE TOOLS CAME.FROM. ..hope they do adopt...but the way the world is they don't want to bring a child into this mess. ..they are.so.adament about this it has to be.some private religious thing.i think...I know tmi tmi.

Techology.is.NOT.something i.do.well...I haven't a clue on how to private message. Ect.that others they talk about.

Infact i.cant.even get into my email anymore.so a message here would be the best I could do right now.

And with old eyes it's hard to.even.see this stuff...
