Spot on analysis by Matt. The only thing I would add is how much the lines between journalism and entertainment have been blurred. That has gotten even worse since news reporters started becoming blatant cheerleaders on social media for one establishment party or the other. It is sad and sickening.

We new MSM and Politicians lied to us, we just didn't know to this extent. People say my politics have changed, whats changed is, I've woken up to the control these people and organisations wish have over us.

I was 12 during Watergate. The media was never 100% accurate but back then there seemed to be more actual digging for answers and asking questions. Today it seems there is not much of that, atleast not in an impartial way.

Taibbi does his heroes proud - HL Mencken, Noam Chomsky and yes, Hunter S Thompson. He's as intrepid as Pilger and does his journalism with integrity, intelligence and humour. For what it's worth coming from me, I think he's one of the best journalists working in English today.
